In 1999, Raymond made a substantial donation to the Naples Community Hospital to serve as the springboard to build a new cancer center on the hospital’s site. The “Raymond L. Lutgert Cancer Center” opened in 2002 and brings cutting-edge CyperKnife radiation treatment. The comprehensive center has attracted some of the most distinguished oncologists from around the world.

For Lutgert, education is fundamental to an individual’s success in life. To underscore that principle, Raymond and Beverly Lutgert contributed to the Florida Gulf Coast University Foundation to move forward the FGCU College of Business and its facility. Their generous donation that matched the state plus previous appropriations resulted in renaming the College as the “Lutgert School of Business”, and the new building, completed in the Fall of 2008, is named “Lutgert Hall”.
